As you can see, we haven’t blogged in a while.  I guess there hasn’t been anything interesting going on at home. But honestly, ever since the events in the US on November 5th, celebrating our wins and progress seems strange.  There are many people that are struggling with their transition already. Knowing that it might become even more difficult for some makes it hard to discuss some of the wins and moments of happiness. While it’s important to remain visible, I feel like this pause will allow myself, and other trans people to take stock of what we have, what we have accomplished, and regroup. I’ve never had an election in another country affect me as much as this did. It saddens me that there’s a chance that 50% of the US population does not believe that our existence is threatened. At the same time, I think we must remember that the results of the US election may simply be a result of people having their own sets of problems and they voted for the person that sold them an easy solution.

There certainly will be challenges in the near future. Cathy and I have seen it already in the comment section of Cathy’s TikTok where people now feel it is ok to criticize and ridicule our relationship more frequently.  I know the tide will turn. There will be better times. A majority of people agree that we have rights based on polls and surveys, so it’s just a matter of time before good people will stop allowing the idiocy and the harm to continue.

I’m happy to say that where I live, we have a population and provincial government that has shown some support for trans people.  It wasn’t looking good, and it did take a while, but the government has changed in October and things look more hopeful. I should also put the disclaimer in that we are in a province that is way behind the others in terms of support for transgendered people.  There’s a long road ahead, but I believe change is coming.

There are more posts coming in the near future.  I’ll update on my surgeries as well as give a glimpse into what the holidays look like at our home.
